South Africa - Major mining house

The group treasury in Johannesburg was operating on a treasury management system based on old technology and that was no longer supported by the vendor therefore absorbing considerable in-house resource. There were many manual processes from front to back office and treasury transactions with business units across the group were carried out over the telephone.

Solution: After a complete review of the processes and systems employed, a specification and selection project ensued. A treasury management system was selected that automated all existing manual processes and interfaces, thereby increasing control and security throughout, and which enabled on-line dealing between the business units and group treasury.
